Leeds Sign Language Interpreting Service
The Leeds Sign Language Interpreting Service (LSLIS) is based at the Leeds Centre for Deaf and Blind People, and was established in 1995. The service provides a confidential and impartial sign language interpreting service to all deaf people living within the Leeds area.
LSLIS ensures that deaf people can access every part of life, without themselves ever having to pay for an interpreter; the service is free to deaf people and is theirs by right.

Below are listed the details of LSLIS and the services and facilities we provide – follow the links for more information.
Advisory Committee
Leeds Sign Language Interpreting Service is guided by an Advisory Committee with representation from service users, purchasers, and consultants. The committee members meet six times a year and are working together to further develop current provisions.
The deaf community representatives liaise back to their respective groups, ensuring all deaf service users have a say in how their service conducts its business, staff and professional image. The Chair of the committee (who is always a deaf service user) oversees this work on an ongoing basis.
